BADCamp in full swing

Call me a big old geek is you will, but I am so thrilled to be in a room packed full of people excited to see automatically generated charts of the Drupal call stack.

2/3rds of the way through the 1st day of the 1st Bay Area Drupal Camp, and everything is going pretty smoothly. Sure, the wifi is a little flaking, sure the women’s bathroom is over-following (perhaps a first at a technical conference), but that just keeps it exciting. I’d say there are a little under 200 people here. The rooms feel lively, but not crowded…except when the pizza showed up. The pizza for patching approach was mixed. We got tons of people showing up, but I don’t know if much patch reviewing actually happened. Next time we should just bite the bullet and get lunch for everyone.

Zach and Matt’s presentation on instillation profiles and registration was inspiring. Man I wish there system had been ready to roll two month ago. I would have saved me dozens of hours of work. I hope it gathers a community, because it looks like a great starting point for doing conference registration. I need to change the 1st slide of my registration system talk tomorrow to say “Check out the install profile”.

Kieran’s talk was a nice window into what is going on at drupal.org. The most exciting bit is testing.drupal.org – it looks like Drupal might be embracing automated unit testing, which could be a HUGE step forward for the project.

Still not sure if the Lightning Talks are going to come together. I will find out in 20 minutes.

Thanks Tao

Thanks for helping put this all together Tao.

Just wanted to pass a link to the Visualize backtrace module that you mention as auto-generating Drupal call stack charts.

Also, here’s a link to some of the audio sessions from the weekend.
